Myran M.
Dukes
Jan 7, 1944 — Sep 18, 2026
Myran Milda Wilson Dukes, lovingly known as Mrs. Dukes, Millie, Mrs. Myran, Maw-in-law left her earthly home in Diamondhead, Mississippi on September 18, 2026. Born on January 7, 1944, in Monticello, Mississippi, she was the daughter of David Earl Wilson and Minyon Nations Wilson, both of whom preceded her in death.
Millie proudly served in the United States Air Force for two years before building a life rooted in service, grace, and quiet strength. She lived in Bossier City for 35 years, where she worked for the Bossier Parish School Board as the office administrator at Elm Grove Middle School for 22 years. She looked forward each day to her student office workers, teaching and modeling her phenomenal organizational skills, proper etiquette, manners, and her signature firm-but-fair communication style. Her gently raised brow spoke volumes-never needing a raised voice to command respect or convey wisdom.
Myran and John moved to Diamondhead, Mississippi after retirement. A gifted gardener, Myran found soul-deep peace in her manicured yard, lovingly known as the Garden of Eden. She delighted in flowering, nurturing plants, and sharing them generously with others. Her home-immaculate, welcoming, decorated for each season, and filled with warmth-was always open to neighbors, friends, family, and her precious caregivers.
Myran is survived by her husband of 64 years, whom she served with unwavering love and selflessness. She is also survived by her beloved daughter, Kelly Layne Dukes of Diamondhead, Mississippi. She is survived as well by Jerry Craven of Diamondhead, Mississippi; Ron Craven of Long Beach, Mississippi; Miles Craven of Celina, Texas; her brother, Phillip Wilson (Robyn) of Pearl, Mississippi; and her last Uncle, Francis Nations (Sharon) of Slidell, Louisiana; Lucinda Edinberg, Emily Edinberg, Sara Edinberg, Rhonna Lang
Kelly and Jerry provided round-the-clock care, and her wishes were met with honor, grace, respect, and laughter in her last years. Mom treasured every moment spent with her daughter, Jerry, and Ron traveling to LSU football games, taking road trips, fishing, attending concerts, and hosting family holidays in her home. Over the years, she adored her ten "grand dogs," who brought her endless smiles, companionship, and unconditional love. Her grans knew they always had a place under her feet at the dinner table and a generous bite off her plate.
Myran's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the physicians and caregivers who supported her with compassion and dedication: Ava McElwee, Dr. Ronald Kellum, and her hospice caregivers-Rachel, Candace, Rebecca, Hannah, Thomas, Pam, and Angie.
She lived by simple but powerful principles: send flowers to the living, not the deceased; always write thank-you notes; and wear your favorite outfit on Monday to begin the week with confidence and positivity.
A celebration of Myran's life will be held at a later date. Until then, her family encourages all who loved her to plant daylilies, hydrangeas, or a rose bush in her honor-continuing her legacy of beauty, growth, and generosity.
" When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there."
Riemann Family Funeral Home, Pass Christian, is honored to serve the Dukes family.
