Mr. Dana Larry Myers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, in Kiln, MS. Born on May 1, 1951, in Texas, Dana led a remarkable life filled with love, compassion, and dedication to his family and community.

Dana's professional career was marked by hard work and commitment. He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor with Diamond Offshore for many years and retired after leaving an indelible mark on the company. His dedication to his work was evident in everything he did, and his colleagues respected him greatly.

Not only was Dana dedicated to his immediate family but also, alongside Rita, to foster pets through Hancock County Shelter.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy with six years of service under his belt, Dana demonstrated unwavering patriotism and bravery during his time in the military. His selflessness in defending our country is commendable and greatly appreciated.

In his spare time, Dana indulged in some of life's simple pleasures. As a native Texan who settled down in Kiln for many years, he enjoyed the tranquility of fishing and hunting, finding solace in nature's beauty. Additionally, he was an avid football fan, cheering on his favorite teams with enthusiasm.

Dana's warm and caring nature touched the lives of many. He had a way of making others feel at ease in his presence, always ready to lend an empathetic ear or offer a helping hand. His infectious laughter and kind-hearted spirit will be fondly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Dana was preceded in death by his mother, Oletha Faye Dixon; his father, Danie Lee Myers; his sisters Kim Loraine Shulps Blakeney and Margaret Ann Treslor Dixon; as well as his brothers, Richard Dale Jewkes and Kent Dixon Jewkes. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them.

Dana leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will continue to resonate with his family and friends. Dana's true joy resided in being a loving husband to his wife of 12 years, Rita R. Myers. Their bond was one that could be admired by all who knew them. Together, they created a loving home filled with warmth and happiness.

Dana's role as a father was one he cherished deeply. He adored his daughter, Shauntae Myers Davidson and her husband Jerry, as well as his son, Shane Myers and his wife, Kelsi. Dana consistently provided unwavering support and love to his children throughout their lives. His wisdom and guidance will forever be treasured.

He is also survived by his loving sister, Stanla Sue Shulps; and brothers, Richard Jewkes and Jimmy Jewkes and his wife, Diane; and his five beloved grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

May we remember all that he stood for: love, compassion, and dedication to family. His memory will forever serve as an inspiration to cherish our loved ones and to find joy in every moment life has to offer. May he rest in peace knowing he made a positive impact on the lives of those around him.
