Mildred Cruthirds Nihart Woodard (Mimi), 85 years of age, passed away on June 21, 2015, in Gulfport, MS.
Mimi was a native and resident of Gulfport. She was the daughter of the late Leo Jason Cruthirds Sr. and the late Katharine Clay Smith Nihart. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Arlen A. Nihart, Sr and Albert W. Woodard Sr.; brother, Leo Jason Cruthirds Jr.; and her son, John Clay Crawford.
Mimi is survived by her sons, James R. Morehead (Mary) of Ft Walton Beach, FL, Kevin L. Crawford (Terri) of Ocean Springs, MS; daughters, Katharine M. Lassiter (Duane) of Mandeville, LA, Melanie M. Bordelon (Randy) of Hessmer, LA and Nora M. Kovach (James) of San Rafael, CA; ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and extended family, Kathy and Jon Marc van Zutphen of Gulfport, MS.
At the time of her early retirement, she was the Financial Manager for the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology at Tulane University Medical School.
After retiring, she returned to Gulfport where she devoted her time to friends and family and a variety of civic activities, including serving as the President of the American Legion Auxiliary 119, among other leadership positions in many other Veterans' organizations.
Mimi was known for her love of southern cuisine, and enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Services will be held at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME in Gulfport on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. Memories may be shared at www.RiemannFamily.com
