Mildred LaFontaine Smith

Mrs . Mildred LaFontaine Smith, age 84, of Gulfport, went to be with her savior on Friday, July 5, 2013 in Gulfport.
She was born in Bay St. Louis, MS and graduated from Bay St. Louis High School in 1946. She married her husband, Odie Smith, Jr., January 23, 1949. They had 64 years of wonderful marriage and traveled extensively, as her husband was in the U.S. Air Force. They retired after 31 years of military life and settled in Gulfport, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Carrie Nelson LaFontaine, a daughter, Suzaanne Teresa Smith, and a brother, Wallace LaFontaine, and a brother at birth..
Survivors include her husband, Col. Odie Smith, Jr., USAF, Ret., 2 daughters, Sharon Edmondson, and Sandra (James) Madaris, 2 sisters, Alberta (Tom) Radden and Marie Spatz, 3 grandchildren, Sabrina Edmondson, Samantha Edmondson, and Millie Madaris, and 1 great-grandchild, Cole Watson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church, 366 Cowan Road, Gulfport. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 am.
Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Legion of Mary, 366 Cowan Road, Gulfport, MS 39507.
