Michael Shavers

Michael W. Shavers, 63, was called home November 25, 2017. The family would like to thank Gulfport Care Center and staff, and Garden Park Hospital for the wonderful care they provided for our brother.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Laura Chiniche and William D. (Sonny) Shavers, and a sister, Paula Gail Shavers; a niece, Cassandra N. Alexander; a nephew, Christopher D. Alexander; and a brother-in-law, Edward D. Muesall.
He is survived by his children, Maranda and Michael Crosby of Gulfport, Mississippi, Amanda Fredrick of Colorado, Michael Shavers of Gulfport, and Shane Shavers of Birmingham, Alabama; his sisters, Debra A. Muesall of Long Beach, and Cindy McGovern; lifelong companions Mel Soffra of Gulfport, Wanda Roberts, Adela Gutierrez of Conroe, TX, Dorothy (Lee) Jackson of Saucier, and Diana Shavers Smith of Gulfport. Michael had eight grandchildren, four nieces, six nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Michael was a Fireman and EMT for the City of Gulfport and was a Professional dance instructor, musician, and karaoke entertainer. His hobbies were fishing, motorcycles, riding horses, and wagon trains.
Services for Michael will be Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Gulfport Care Center, 11240 Canal Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. In lieu of flowers the family would like a donation to Gulfport Care Center in memory of Michael W. Shavers.
