Michael Notter, age 47, of Long Beach, MS, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2026. He went to Long Beach High School and then spent most of his life doing what he loved…Information Technology (IT).
Technology came natural to him. If there was a computer, cell phone, or electronic device that wasn’t working he could usually figure it out. His career in IT led him to work with a few law offices where he managed their technology departments and truly loved his work.
He had a heart of gold and natural instinct to help others. In one remarkable moment he performed CPR on a young girl at the Biloxi Natatorium and saved her life. He was recognized as a citizen hero by the City of Biloxi for this action and received a medal.
He was also a man of strong opinions and loved a good debate (especially with his cousin David Cooke). He was never afraid to express his thoughts. Once he believed he was right, he would make his case until the very end and…even if it meant travel to Hawaii for a traffic ticket!
Those who knew him will remember the spirited debates and conversations that could go on for hours and the determination with which he defended his position. He had a genuine fascination for weather and could spend hours tracking fronts and storms. When he was little, he would rather watch Cal Sisto, the weatherman, instead of cartoons. During hurricane season he had a way of making every storm much more dramatic than it was. He also had the uncanny ability to predict that every storm was going to be a direct hit to Long Beach. He also loved being on the water and was a devoted Saints fan.
Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Notter, nephew, Brent Notter, and uncle, David Notter. He is survived by his wife, Danielle Notter; son, Nathan (Reagan) Notter; granddaughters, Adalynn and Wrenley; parents, Richard and Barbara Notter; sister, Lauren (Derek) Pierce; and many aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 6 - 8 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. A time of sharing will be held at 7 pm in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Kids' Chance of Mississippi - Giving Kids of Injured Workers a Chance at a Better Future
