Michael A. McCaleb, EdD, age 78, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in Gulfport. He retired from the Harrison County Sheriff's Department where he taught the G.E.D program. He also taught literacy at Jefferson Davis Community College and he taught in the Gulfport School District. He served as a deputy sheriff with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department. He was an Operating Engineer, also he taught Operating Engineering.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas McCaleb and Eva Jo Brown McCaleb; sons, Johnathan McCaleb and Christopher McCaleb; granddaughter, Bethany Fisher; brothers, Lee Drennan, Tommy McCaleb and Jimmy McCaleb; sister, Pat Paulson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Hammett McCaleb of Gulfport; children, Roy B. Fisher of Dallas, TX, Thomas D. Fisher of Gulfport, Steven K. (girlfriend, Nancy Black) Fisher of Louisville, Ky, Cheryl M. (Pam) Fisher of Gulfport, Michael (Renee') McCaleb of Petal, Lee (Stephanie) McCaleb of Petal, Timothy McCaleb of Petal, Benjamin (Chrystal) McCaleb of Petal, and Jason (girlfriend, Heather Alexander) Fuselier of Louisville, KY; sister, Dot Thomas of Gulfport; 21 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; adopted daughters, Jacqueline Murray of Gulfport and Brandee Burgin of Louisville, KY.
A celebration of life will be held 2:00PM on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center, 575 Division Street, Biloxi, MS.
