Michael Alford Guel

Michael Alford Guel, age 38 of Gulfport, passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his beloved Aunt, Mary Lynn Searles and his grandparents: Emile Guel, Alma “Bootsie” Guel, John Warren Alford, and Elizabeth Davis Alford.

Michael is survived by his parents, Michael Edward and Jeanette Alford Guel; his brother, Jonathan Emile Guel; and his devoted partner, Mary Elizabeth Raines.

A Gulfport High School Class of 2005 graduate, Michael excelled in the classroom and in both basketball and tennis during his high school years.

After graduation, he was accepted into the prestigious Croft Institute for International Studies at the University of Mississippi. There Michael fell in love with travel and the Spanish language, studying abroad in Costa Rica and Spain. He graduated from Ole Miss in 2009, later earning a master’s in finance from Tulane University.

Eventually Michael discovered his true calling in healthcare and built a fulfilling career as a pharmacist. His coworkers, at Singing River Health System, affectionately referred to him as “the people’s pharmacist” because of his passion for direct patient care.

Michael had an unmatched gift for lighting up every room he walked into. His infectious smile, quick laugh, and genuine kindness touched lifelong friends and everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

He lived fully, loved deeply, and will be missed beyond words.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Friday, November 21, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church, Gulfport, with visitation beginning at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials contributions may be made in Michael’s name to St. James Catholic Church or the Humane Society of South MS.
