Merle Segari Norfolk, age 77 of Diamondhead, MS, passed away on December 15, 2015. She was born to her beloved parents, the late Arthur Anthony Segari, Sr. and Louise Antoine Segari of New Orleans.
She attended St. Joseph Academy and then Louisiana State University, where she was a member of Beta Sigma Omicron Sorority. She graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and taught school for 17 years in Louisiana, Connecticut and Mississippi.
Merle married her incredible husband Chuck in 1981, and they relocated to St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands in 1987, where they spent 10 wonderful years living the beach life and sailing the Caribbean waters on their boat, ""Southern Miss"". She was a member of the St. Croix Yacht Club, where she served as Vice Commodore and Social Chairman.
They relocated to Diamondhead, MS in 1997, reuniting with many old friends. Merle always sociable and outgoing became engaged in many community activities and concerns. She served as President of the Newcomers Club, President of the Women's Club and honored as Queen of the Krewe of Selene and twice as maid in the Krewe of Kamehameha. And member of the Krewe of Diamondhead and Krewe of Olympus.
Merle is survived by her loving husband, Charles ""Chuck"" Norfolk, her son, Jeff Bishop, and wife Susie. Her stepchildren, Charles Norfolk, Jr., Steve Norfolk, Cindy Norfolk Bailey, husband Leigh, Tim Norfolk, wife ChanteÌ. Her grandchildren, Jenna Bishop Raymond, husband Chad, and Kiley Jo Bishop; step-grandchildren, Kasey Bailey, Leigh Bailey III, wife Shelby, Kevin Bailey, Perri Norfolk, Trent Norfolk, Megan Norfolk, Anthony Norfolk, Piper Norfolk, Emelia Norfolk; great-grandchildren, Olivia Reese Raymond, Zackery Smith, Averie Smith and Mike Bailey. Merle's brothers, Arthur Segari, wife Suzanne, and Robert Segari, wife Cheri. She also leaves behind many loving relatives and friends.
She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church where she was Chairman of the Bereavement Committee and Good Samaritan Committee.
She was a member of PEO Chapter Q, and a member of the Hancock County Historical Society.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Monday December 28, 2015 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Diamondhead Mississippi beginning at 10:30am. Father Wayne Ray will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 am.
Interment will be for family members in Biloxi National Cemetery
Merle never met a stranger, she was compassionate, and giving of everything she had and was. She was the life of the party and will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
