Melvin Douglas ""Doug"" Necaise, age 73, passed away February 29, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his son, Carey ""Boss"" Necaise; his parents, Florin and Elder Necaise; and his siblings, John Everett Necaise, Lavern Necaise, Bernice Necaise, and Doris Necaise.
Doug is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Love Necaise, of Kiln, MS; his daughter, Laura Love Necaise of Medfield, MA; and his siblings, Mae Haro, Lamar Necaise, Myra Peterson, Charles Necaise, and Helen Jones.
He was a graduate of Hancock North Central High School, where he was a member of the 1960 State Championship Basketball team and was known as ""Spider"". After high school, he played freshman basketball at MSU and then later at Pearl River Community College. He graduated from William Carey University, where he also played basketball. His first teaching job after graduation was in Fayette, MS, where he coached track and basketball. He coached the girls track team to a State championship. Doug also taught and coached in Hinds Co., Poplaville, and later retired from Hancock Co. Schools as a P.E. coach. His teaching career spanned 40+ years.
If you knew Doug, you knew his passion was gardening. In fact, he was known to many as ""Farmer Doug"".
He was a very humble, loving and giving soul. He was a quiet mentor to many and gave respect to all.
He was a member of Bayou Talla Fellowship where he was active in serving the community. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bay St. Louis, MS.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road, Pass Christian, MS, 39571, where friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Bayou Talla Fellowship Church at 10:30 a. m. Friends may visit one hour prior at the church. Burial will be in Bayou CoCo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Bayou Talla Fellowship
