Melvin Mason, age 80 and a resident of Saucier, died on November 16, 2014, in Gulfport.
Mr. Mason was a native and lifelong resident of the MS Gulf Coast. He served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years and served in the Korean War. He retired after many years of service with the City of Long Beach in the Street Department. Mr. Mason was a loving companion, father, grandfather and brother.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Myranda Calhoun Mason; his sons, Christopher Mason and Marvin Sumrall and his wife, Sarah Mason.
Mr. Mason is survived by his loving companion of 27 years, Carolyn Raymond; his children, Patricia McCallum, Rebecca Colan, Elizabeth Wilson, Peggy Peterson, Patrick Mason, Douglas Mason, Sylvia Henderson, Joe Raymond, Jr., Adam Raymond, Beverly Beahr, Angela Ross, Tony Raymond, and Michael Raymond; his brother, Lewis Mason; 42 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, served the family.
