Melba Marcelite Barrett, otherwise known as Maw-Maw Barrett to those who knew and loved her, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in Gulfport, MS. She was 91.
Marcelite was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Webster Horn and Effie Lawrence Horn; siblings, Huis Horn and Dean Horn; and her husband, Morris R. Barrett. She is survived by her son, Russell Barrett (Rebecca); grandson, Randy Barrett (Rachel); great-grandsons, Braydon Barrett, and Skyler Barrett; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Barrett and Louise Horn; nephews, Michael Barrett and Bryan Horn; and nieces, Diane Barrett James, Tressa Barrett Guidry, and Jennifer Horn Dumal.
Marcelite was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She loved to read, cook, sew, and write letters. She told many stories about her fun times traveling around the United States with her husband and son.
She was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church and enjoyed studying God's word.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, where friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Fernwood Baptist Church, 2307 East Pass Road, Gulfport, MS 39507. Memories may be shared at www.riemannfamily.com
