Matthew (Matt) Hall, Jr. of Diamondhead, Mississippi passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was born in Caroline County, Virginia on April 25, 1930 to Matthew Hall, Sr. and Lottie Watts Hall.
He graduated from James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia where he was quite active in sports and signed a professional baseball contract, then attended college before his enlistment in the United States Air Force for a four-year period of time during the Korean conflict.
After a discharge from the U.S. Air Force, he returned to college where he graduated in 1958. He then accepted a position with the Federal Government and served in numerous assignments in several states and regional offices of the Department of Health and Human Services.
In 1985, he retired from his position in the San Francisco regional office and he and his wife Nancy, (Nan) retired to Diamondhead, Mississippi where they became very active in the community. Matt never fully recovered from the loss of his wonderful wife who passed away in February 2016.
Matt is preceded in death by his wife, Nan, his children, Susan Hall Wade, Gary Steven Hall, Michael Timothy Hall, Sandra Hall Lassere (John) and his parents, Matthew and Lottie Hall.
Matt is survived by a daughter, Debra Hall Vincent; brother, Robert D. Hall; grandchildren, Keri Vincent Burke, Kim Vincent, Joshua Hall, and Katie Hall; and great-grandchildren, Kendall Claire Burke, Carter Everett Hall and Peyton Daye Hall.
A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Diamondhead Community Church. In lieu of flowers, family members are suggesting that anyone wishing to make a contribution, consider a favorite charity of their choice.
