Matilda Mae "Tillie" Edwards

Matilda ""Tillie"" Mae Edwards passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 on her 85th birthday.
Mrs. Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Solomon Smith; her siblings, Dukie, Ernie, Franklin, Louise, Margie and Jeannie; her daughter, Margaret J. Thomas; and her granddaughter, Konya R. Edwards.
Survivors include her daughters, Gilda, Frieda, Sheila and Brenda; her eight grandchildren, Charlie, Jon Jon, Adam, Shannon, John, Renee, Tonya and Joe Joe; 20 great-grandchildren; and other loving family members and dear friends.
Mrs. Tillie was a native of Oregon and had been a long-time resident of the Gulf Coast. She attended local schools in Lyman and was of the Christian faith.
Mrs. Tillie was a hard worker and she had been employed as a garment seamstress with Pass Christian Industries and was employed with Grand Casino in Gulfport where she won various star employee awards.
Mrs. Tillie loved crocheting and sewing. She was a God-fearing woman who loved her family dearly.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Memorial Hospital, Select Specialty Hospital and to Dr. Paul Matherne; and also special thanks to her daughter, Brenda, who selfishly cared for momma for the past several years.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 12 Noon until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Gardens in Gulfport. Tributes may be offered at www.riemannfamily.com.
