Mason Randall Darty, 24, of Long Beach, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016.
Affectionately known as ""MayMay"" to those closest to him, Mason was a 2010 graduate of Long Beach High School, where he was on the football and track team. He was a former student at MGCCC and dreamt of one day being a physical therapist.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Desmond Walker of Gulfport; and half-sister, Sara Radoncic Darty of Serbia.
Mason is survived by his parents, Randy (Alma) Darty and Kim Darty (and her fianceÌ Andy Turner), all of Long Beach; sister, Shaylynn Darty (and fianceÌ Cody Singletary) of Long Beach; brother, Garrett Darty of Long Beach; half-siblings, Sean Dean and Anesa Darty of Long Beach; nephews, Landon and Brodie; paternal grandparents, James and Geraldine (""Jerri"") Lassiter of Saucier; maternal grandmother, Adell (""Nanny"") Walker of Gulfport; and a large extended family of loving aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, and many close friends that will always cherish their memories with him.
Mason will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, intelligent demeanor, and contagious smile. His strength in providing inspiration and the quiet, meaningful conversations with those he loved can never be replaced. We will also smile as we remember that in any debate, Mason would not be on the losing end. He was an avid bike rider and his dedication to physical fitness was unequivocal. Landon and Brodie will miss their Uncle MayMay and his loving, playful nature beyond words.
Pallbearers will be CeeJay Smith, Thomas Thode, Jack Donovan, Alex Carrubba, Taylor Morris, Michael Dammann, Sid Pucheu, Trey Doucet, and Michael Tredick.
The family would like to thank Memorial Hospital Gulfport, especially Drs. Bosarge and Rippon, as well as nurses Tiffany, Faith, Cathy, and Lori for their professionalism, kindness, and dedication. We would also like to extend special thanks to the responding officers with Long Beach Police Department, Long Beach Fire Department, and American Medical Response.
Mason's last selfless act was that all of his vital organs have been donated so that others may continue to live through his generosity and loving spirit.
