Maryrose Bridges, age 83, went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Gulfport. Mrs. Bridges was a native of Chicago, IL. After completing her college education, she spent five years teaching secondary school music and elementary curriculum at Greystone Christian School in Mobile, AL.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Rev. Arnold Bridges; her sons, Dr. Arnold Bridges, Jr. and his wife, Cathy, of Oak Ridge, TN, Rex Bridges and his wife, Kathy, of Ocean Springs, MS; her daughter, Victoria McArdle and her husband, Michael, of Houston, TX; her brother, Dr. John Schimmer and his wife, Janie, of Dallas, TX; and five grandchildren.
After moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Mrs. Bridges worked for seventeen years at Keesler Air Force Base in several positions including, Secretary to the Chief of Patient Affairs, Secretary to the Chairman of the Department of Surgery, and for eight years before her retirement in 1980, Instructor in the Administration Specialist Course.
Mrs. Bridges has been a member of First Baptist Church, Gulfport, since 1995 and served as pianist for the Senior Adult Choir and Senior Adult Fellowship. She also served as pianist in every church her husband served. Following retirement from church ministries, she continued as a substitute pianist in various churches on the coast.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, at 12:30 p.m., with the visitation one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be sent to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Gulfport or the Gideon's International.
