Mary Taake

Mary Alice Taake, 83, of Gulfport, MS went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 22, 2018.
Mary Alice was born and raised in the Handsboro Community of Gulfport, where her family owned a dairy farm.  Mary Alice graduated from Gulfport High School in 1953.  She attended college at Blue Mountain College and William Carey University.
Mary Alice married Archie Benton (A. B.) Taake on June 19, 1955 at First Baptist Church of Gulfport.  They were married for 55 years before he passed away in April 2011.  She worked alongside A. B. in his State Farm Insurance agency for 39 years until his retirement in 2008.
Mary Alice served the Lord at First Baptist Church and Handsboro Baptist Church, both of Gulfport.  You would usually find her serving in the children's ministry.  She loved to rock and sing to the babies.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Day Bryan and John Calvin Bryan, brother, Robert Day Bryan, husband, A. B. Taake, daughter, Natalie Ruth Taake.
Mary Alice is survived by her children, Cathy Taake, Carolyn (Michael) Davis, Nancy (William) Stratton, Alice Taake Entrekin; Grandchildren, Jeremy (Liza) Davis, Natalie (Steven) Melin, Mary Elizabeth Entrekin; Great Granddaughter, Wyndell Kate Davis.
Mary Alice, known as Nana, in later years, extended her love not only to her immediate family but to others that she would call family.  There was always a full house of people to share life with and to allow her to "cook for an army."
A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, April 27, 2018, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS 39503, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the funeral home chapel where friends may visit one hour prior.
Graveside services will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
