Mary Emma Epperson Shows

July 12, 1919 — May 24, 2013

Mary Emma Epperson Shows, age 93 and a resident of Pass Christian, died on Friday, May 24, 2013, in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Shows was born in Montgomery, AL on July 12, 1919. After living in Nashville, TN and Theodore, AL, her family settled in ""The Pass"". Graduating in 1937 from Pass Christian High School, she participated in many activities including tennis, basketball, and played the cornet in the band.
Soon after graduation, she joined the phone company where she spent her career retiring in 1980. A longtime resident of ""The Pass"" and employee with the phone company, it was hard to go anywhere where she did not know someone.
Mrs. Shows was also a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Pass Christian. Although maybe a little flustered by the changing of service times and the commotion, she truly loved the family gathering on Mardi Gras Sunday.
Miss. Emma will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joel Franklin Epperson, Sr.; her mother, Mary Adams Epperson; her husband, James Shows; her brothers, Joel Franklin Epperson, Jr., David H. Epperson, and George B. Epperson and her daughter-in-law, Joyce B. Shows.
Mrs. Shows is survived by her son, James F. Shows of Gulfport; her sister, Ruth Dandrea of Pineville; her grandchildren, Scott (Kathy) Shows of Dunwoody, GA, Alan Shows and Amanda (Ray) Ladner all of Gulfport; her great grandchildren, Connor, Lauren, Emerson, and Carson Shows all of Dunwoody, GA and Nathan and Abbigail Ladner both of Gulfport; and many nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 2pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian.
