Mary Ellen Sessions

Mary Ellen Sessions, age 71, passed away on October 5, 2023, in Biloxi, Mississippi, She was born on June 20, 1952, in Yakima, Washington.

Mary was a wife to Samuel Salazar and had two sons with him, Tony and Scott Salazar. Later, she married Jim Sessions and they had a son named Michael. Later in life, she found over 20 years of happiness and companionship with her life partner Duane Merrill.

Mary dedicated her career to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Biloxi VA Medical Center, making a lasting impact in her community. Outside of work, she enjoyed journaling, volunteer work and riding motorcycles with Duane. She was also into astrology.

Mary is preceded in death by her siblings, Lynn, Gary, Johnny, Ricky, and Gail; and her parents, Byron Lee Bender and Mary Elizabeth (McCord) Bender.

She is survived by three sons, Samuel "Tony" Salazar of Tulsa, OK, Matthew "Scott" Salazar (Sarah) of Kansas City, MO, James "Michael" Sessions of Biloxi; grandchildren, David Ware, Madison Salazar, Ema Salazar, Matthew Salazar, Nathan Salazar, Samantha Salazar; great-granddaughter, Alex; brother, Marty Oliver; and life partner, Duane Merrill.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at a later date.
