Mary Evelyn Lanier ""Granny"" Sciple, 81 was a resident of Forest Manor in Covington, LA for the past 2 years. She departed this life peacefully, with her family at her bedside on Saturday February 8, 2014.
Mary Evelyn lived on the Coast for 30 years, she was a beautician and homemaker. She loved the Lord and was a member of Biloxi River Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. ""Granny"" used her gifts in the ministry of helps, friendship and hospitality to serve others. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her, we love you Granny!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Garland Sciple; her grandson, Jerry Garland Sciple II; her parents, ""Daddy"" Jeff and ""Mama"" Helen Lanier and her four brothers, James, Billy, Allen, and Cecil Lanier.
Mary Evelyn is survived by her five children, Jerry of Jackson, Jeffrey (Suzette) of Lacombe, LA, J.D. (Robin) of Gulfport, Jason (Suzanne) of Wiggins and Gwen Sciple of Saucier, eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and her brother, Leonard Lanier of Lucedale.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014, at 3pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 12'Noon at Shuqualak Cemetery in Shuqualak, MS.
