It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Ruth "Ruthie" Schurhammer announce her passing after a brief battle with returning cancer.
Mary Ruth "Ruthie" Schurhammer was 61 years young when she went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 19, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family in her home when she passed. Ruthie was born April 26, 1956 in Beaufort, North Carolina. The daughter of James Everett "Silver Dollar" Daniels and Ollar Mae Geraldine Pilkington (Queen Bee) Daniels.
Ruthie had remarkable faith and love for the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her children and grandchildren grow. Family and friends were Ruthie's delight. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her heart and passion. To know Ruthie was to love her. She had a lot of love for other people. She was kind and caring and always worrying about others over herself. She was gentle and generous of her time and anything that she had to give to help anyone she could, even if that meant she would go without. Ruthie was a true blessing to all the lives that she touched.
In 1981, Ruthie met and married the love her of life Kenny Schurhammer. After six weeks of dating, Kenny asked Ruthie's daddy for her hand in marriage. He borrowed a ring and they went to the Justice of the Peace to get married. From the moment that they met they were connected at the heart. Their love was automatic and natural, like it was always meant to be. There are not enough words to describe the loving relationship that they shared so deeply during their 37 years of marriage. Kenny says, "I am the luckiest man in the world because God shared one of his angels with me, she is the best person I have ever met."
Ruthie attended First Baptist Church of Orange Grove.
Preceded in death by her parents James Everett "Silver Dollar" Daniels and Ollar Mae Geraldine Pilkington (Queen Bee) Daniels. Also, her brother James Everett "Jimmy" Daniels Jr. and father-in-law Warner Schurhammer.
She is survived by her husband Kenny Schurhammer; her two daughters Jennifer Johnson and Shara Allen; grandchildren Christian, Krystopher, Tristan, Austin, Alyssa, and Macy; great-grandchildren Gabriel and Ruby Mae; nieces Becky and Danyelle; mother-in-law Lois Diehl.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to Riemann Family Funeral Homes. 11280 Three Rivers Road., Gulfport, MS 39503.
