On 24 July 2017, Mary Carolyn Dykes Savage of Biloxi died peacefully surrounded by loved ones in New Orleans.
Born in Pruden, Tennessee Mary attended Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky where she obtained her associate degree in music. She later obtained her Bachelor's Degree in education from the University of Maryland and her Masters Degree from the University of Southern California, all while maintaining the full time career as a mother of four and a military wife. She retired from the Ocean Springs School System where she taught the gifted and talented. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling and social activities with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha Dykes, her sisters, Loretta Lambdin, Henrietta Lambdin, and the love of her life her husband, James "Doc" Savage Sr.
She is survived by her children, Kim Moudgil (Hamish), Lyn Gilby, James Savage Jr., David Savage (Kelly), Granddaughters, Erin Lott, Melissa Johnson, Tyler LeBoeuf (Matt),Tara Ulrich (Wayne) and two great grand-children, Wayne Ulrich Jr. and Sophia LeBoeuf and a host of dear friends.
Interment will be private at the deceased's request.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
