Mary Anne Boardman Roberts

Mary Anne Boardman Roberts, lovingly called Mimi, was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. Mary passed away while surrounded by loved ones on June 21,2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Boardman Sr. and Gertrude Weston Boardman; and her siblings, Joseph Boardman Jr, Henry Boardman, and Barbara Boardman Hatch.

Mary is survived by her beloved daughter, Mildred “Lou” Roberts and her devoted son-in-law, Richard Roberts; grandchildren Weston (Ebony) Roberts of Columbia, MD, Mary Roberts of Gulfport, MS; and great grandchildren, Ethan Moyer, Joe Moyer, Kaitlyn Moyer, Alexander Roberts, Elias Roberts, and Yara Roberts; as well as her beloved nieces, Babe Buckley, Mary Gwen Case, Beth Hatch, Sharon Hodge, Janie Seal, Joli Pecht, Rosie Boardman, and Susie Johnston; along with many cousins.

Mary was a native of Handsboro, MS, and a life-long resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. After graduating from Gulfport High School, Mary attended Belhaven College, where she graduated with a Secretarial Certificate. For 37 years, Mary was employed by the Veterans Administration as the Secretary to the Director of the Biloxi and Gulfport Veterans Administration Hospitals.

After retirement, Mary, who was always so selfless and loving, spent countless hours volunteering. Mary volunteered at Feed My Sheep, MGCCC Perk Campus Library, Bayou View, West, and Twenty Eighth Street Elementary School Libraries, and Mississippi Coastal Cleanup. Mary was also a member of the Handsboro Garden Club and the Mississippi Coast Needlearts Guild. Mary, who loved and cared for animals, also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, needle point, reading, and traveling with her family.

Mary was an Elder at Handsboro Presbyterian Church, awarded a lifetime membership to the Presbyterian Women of the Church, and was a member of The Nourishing Place at the time of her death.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kim Zulli, and her loving and caring staff, of Pass Oaks Assisted Living in Pass Christian, MS.
