Mary Lillian “Lil” McCollum, age 84 of Biloxi, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, James “Doc” McCollum and her parents, William and Mary Edna Jones.
Lil is survived by her daughters, Tere (Dan) Rodriguez and Shere Murray; her grandchildren, William (Shauntel Ludwig) Loomis, Sierra (Alan) Silvestre, Daniel Rodriguez and Justin (Lauren) Strickland; her great grandchildren, Reece Loomis, Selena Silvestre, Julian Silvestre, Asher Strickland and Aria Strickland and her sister, Lynn Lindsay.
Born and raised in Natchez, Mississippi, Lil graduated from high school there and built a life centered on her family. She devoted herself to being a loving stay-at-home mother until her oldest daughter, Tere, was twelve years old. She then began a career with Adams County, where she worked faithfully until her retirement.
Lil was a devoted fan of the New Orleans Saints and proudly held season tickets for many years, rarely missing the opportunity to cheer on her beloved team. After retiring, she moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where she enjoyed spending time at the local casinos and embracing the relaxed coastal lifestyle.
One of Lil's greatest joys was her miniature long-haired Dachshund, Nissi, who held a special place in her heart. She loved Nissi dearly and cared for her as if she were one of the family.
Near and dear to Lil's heart were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy. She was incredibly proud of them and cherished every opportunity to celebrate their lives, accomplishments, and the special memories they shared together.
