On April 16, 1931, this world changed for the better after receiving a blessing in the form of a baby girl by the name of Mary Elizabeth Williams. Born to her parents, Mr. Buford and Mrs. Florice Williams of Bainbridge, GA. As a young girl, Mary was taught about a place called Glory. She made her reservations to go there some day while attending Attapulgus Baptist Church in Attapulgus, GA, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She also received confirmation of her reservation some years ago when she renewed her spiritual life with the Lord at New Hope Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS, where she continued to be a devoted Christian. Mary's first marriage was just not to be, but in those days Mary thought divorce for a Christian was not an option, especially after giving birth to her four beautiful children whom she loved dearly. Mary was later divorced and some years later Mary found her true love, Glenn Jones. Mary and Glenn were married on September 16, 1967, and Mary became a second mom to Glenn's daughter, Theresa, from a previous marriage.
Mary spent most of her adult life caring for others as a nurse in hospitals, nursing homes and private nursing duties. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend until the end. Mary enjoyed her flower garden and spending time with her family that included her church family. The scripture says we are to give back a portion of what God has so graciously given us, so what we will keep is a lifetime of memories as a keep sake and her picture in a frame. Blessed be God's grace knowing that Mary's name is in his will. Mary's inheritance is a promise of eternal life in the house of the Lord.
On November 13, 2016, God rewarded Mary by taking her into His loving arms and bringing her to her heavenly home just like He promised, saying ""Well done thou good and faithful servant!""
Mary was the second of thirteen children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Buford and Mrs. Florice Williams; two sons, Travis and Greg; five brothers, Kenneth, Danny, Bobby, Richard and Buford, Jr.; and one sister, Jeanett.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 48 years, Glenn Jones; two children, Wayne and Elaine; one daughter by marriage, Theresa; two brothers, George and Butch; four sisters, Cara, Mariam, Annette, Barbara and their spouses; thirteen grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren and their spouses; her in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
