Mary Teresa Barbour died May 19
th
at her home in Gulfport where her daughter Teresa had lovingly cared for her for many years.
Mary was born May 20, 1923 in Sydney, Australia to Edward & Margaret Leighton.
After World War II, Mary followed her US Navy sweetheart to America and married Robert (Bob) A. Eyer, Sr.
Following the death of Bob in 1957, Mary married John Hartford (Jack) Barbour who passed away in 2005.
She was a devout Catholic, a devoted wife, a loving and caring mother and grandmother to 8 children, 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by children, Robert Jr. and Pauline. She is survived by her 6 children, Jane, Katie, Maryanne, Jim, Teresa and Tom; and by all her grandchildren. She unselfishly gave of her time and treasures to serve God and her family in all aspects of her life. She served on many Church and School committees always ready to help others.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St James Catholic Church on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:00 am followed by burial at St James Catholic Cemetery. She now lives eternally in Joy and Peace with her God in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St James Catholic Church in Gulfport C/O St Vincent de Paul Society, 366 Cowan Rd, Gulfport, MS 39507.
