Martha T. Richards

Martha T. Richards, age 90, of Gulfport passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Richards was born in Grand Cane, LA on July 10, 1922 to the late Ralph and Eunice Thom. She attended Louisiana Tech University, then went on to work and retire from civil service at Keesler Air Force Base.
Martha was an active member of Mississippi City United Methodist Church for many years. Later in life, she became an avid Braves fan.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; that was near and dear to many people.
Mrs. Richards was preceded in death by her husband, William ""Bill"" F. Richards; parents; her sister, Mary Lynn Fagan; and her brother, John L. Thom.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Louise Powell of Hattiesburg; sons, William Thom Richards (Sylvia) of Fairfield, Iowa and Edward Bruce Richards (Delta) of Biloxi; brother, Robert Holmes Thom of Dallas, TX; three grandchildren, Jennifer Richards, Edward Richards, II, and Alan Powell; and one great grandchild, Brianna Richards.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Mississippi City United Methodist Church in Gulfport, MS. A visitation for family and friends will be held in the church sanctuary one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow services at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
Donations may be made to Mississippi City United Methodist Church in Mrs. Martha Richards' name.
