Mark S. """"Sam"""" Young, Jr., 83, of Long Beach, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 in Gulfport.
Mr. Young was a retired crane operator and was a NASCAR fan. He loved traveling and RVing, was a resident of Long Beach since 1962, and was a US Army WWII veteran.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents, Mark S. Young, M.D. and Erma E. Young; a brother, Edgar K. Young; and a sister, Janet Hilbert.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth B. Young of Long Beach, his children, Mark S. Young, III of Long Beach, and David C. Young, of Long Beach and Linda Kercher of Seattle, WA; his grandchildren, Melissa Young, Lauren Young, Michael Young, Samantha Spansel, Christopher Young and Daniel Young. In lieu of flowers the family request, memorials be sent to St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 550, Long Beach, MS 39560.
A memorial service will be Friday, February 17, 2006 at First United Methodist Church in Long Beach at 6:30 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service.
