Mark Stephen Hulbert, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 12, in Diamondhead, Mississippi. With his death, he leaves behind many heartbroken family members and friends.
Mark was born in Lakewood, Ohio, on January 7, 1956, to Charles and Isabella Hulbert. After graduating from Avon Lake High School in 1974, he married his high school sweetheart, Constance "Connie" Corrigan. He proudly served his country for six years in the Air Force before receiving an honorable discharge.
He then served the government as a civilian with the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). His NRL career quickly led them to move to Slidell, Louisiana in 1983, where he began a successful 31-year career as an electronics specialist. His work led him to travel across the globe where he had many adventures with incredible stories. Mark fell in love with blues, jazz, and southern food and culture while attending technical school at Keesler Air Force Base, and thus quickly adopted their new Bayou State as home.
While in Slidell, he and Connie were members of the Krewe of Perseus, played in dart leagues, hosted memorable parties, and attended local music festivals. Mark was an avid football fan, rooting on his beloved Cleveland Browns and THE Ohio State University, while still finding some time to root for LSU and the Saints. His adventurous spirit extended to his love of motorcycles and his passion for handyman projects. Always with a construction project underway, he was known for lending a helping hand. Among his favorite pastimes was golf. He especially enjoyed playing in the Stennis golf league, Gulf Shores golf trips, and with his best friend and son, Chris Hulbert.
Above all, Mark treasured spending time with his family and friends. A loving father and grandfather, he took great pleasure in spoiling his grandchildren and making lifelong memories with them. He was known for living life to the fullest and giving 100% to everything he did, working hard and playing even harder.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Connie Hulbert; his children Chris (Lauren), and Stacy (Ryan); his grandchildren Madeleine (22), Emma (6), Ethan (2); his siblings Charles "Chuck" and Susan (Ron); and many many friends.
A memorial celebration of Mark's life will be held at a later time, as he would not have wanted anything formal for his passing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project and PGA Hope Charities.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, Pass Christian, is honored to serve the Hulbert family.
