Mark Andrew Carter (Pawpaw), age 61, of Pass Christian, Mississippi, passed away on July 29, 2025, at Singing River Hospital in Ocean Springs, MS.
Born in Wilmington, Ohio, Mark was a proud graduate of Potomac High School, Class of 1982. He went on to serve his country with honor in the U.S. Navy Seabees, retiring in 2002 with the rank of E6, BU1. Following his military service, Mark continued to serve his community as the Head of Maintenance at the Menge Flea Market, where he was known for his work ethic and dedication.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Willie Minor Carter.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Linda Carter; his children, Todd Carter (Megan), Jessica Burrell (Carl Burrell), and Tearessa Webster (Nicholas Webster); his siblings, Bill Carter, David Carter (Lori), and Beth Easton (Ryan); and his beloved grandchildren, Tegan, Nolan, Elijah, Capri, Blaine, Aydrian, Brison, Riley, Nikolay, and Delaney.
Mark was a proud and active member of VFW Post 5931, where he served as Commander and was also a member of the VFW Cooties. He loved woodworking, shooting guns with his grandkids, fishing, bowling, and collecting. His hobbies reflected his deep appreciation for craftsmanship and tradition.
Those who knew Mark will remember him as a very caring person, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and son. Mark will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS.
