We lost our mother today, quietly and gently as she lived, she simply went to sleep. Marjorie McMillan Bellamy Hollingsworth, 95, was born March 13, 1919, in Beaufort, South Carolina. She was a devoted Navy wife and traveled to various ports of duty throughout the United States. She moved to Gulfport, MS with her late husband B.O. Hollingsworth in 1958. She considered Gulfport a close second to her beloved Beaufort, SC. First and foremost, she was a mother and grandmother. Her home was always open to family and friends. She loved nothing more than to rock a baby to sleep and feed everyone, no one ever left hungry.
Margie was preceded in death by her father and mother, James R. & Merita Bellamy of Beaufort, SC; her sibilings, Jim & Nila Bellamy, Roberta Alwood and Mac & Carolyn Bellamy; her husband and love of her life, Bardell Hollingsworth; her beloved grandson, Brian Hollingsworth; and her infant great granddaughter, Claire Rogers.
Our precious Granny left behind, to follow in this life's journey, her children, Jan Hixson, Gil & Becky Hollingsworth, Rhonda & Wayne Purchner and Dwight & Debby Hollingsworth; her grandchildren, Steven Hixson, Scott Hixson, Randy Hixson, Becky Rogers, Missy Coy, Matt Hollingsworth, Beth Bradford, Margie Cruse and Ryan Hollingsworth; 25 great grandchildren and 1 great, great granddaughter.
We would like to thank and praise her caregivers over these past 5 years, Patsy Rhodes, Janet Ladner, Debby Hollingsworth and the staff of Gentiva Health Care, especially, Jan, Jamie, Sharon, Lisa and Sharon.
Flowers and love were given freely during her lifetime. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that in her memory you love your children, teach them to love a good book, to crochet, cook a meal, watch a football game and celebrate all the special moments in life.
The Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2014 at the National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, is serving the family. Memories may be shared at www.riemannfamily.com
