Marjorie Alta Griffith Davis, 97, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Mrs. Davis was born in Syracuse, New York on May 21, 1920, to Jessie Mae Peck Griffith and Romeo Chabert Griffith.
She was the loving wife of Dr. J. Treadwell Davis, professor of history at the University of Southern Mississippi. After moving to Gulfport, Mississippi in 1979, Mrs. Davis became active as a volunteer in several organizations.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Theodore Griffith; and her beloved husband.
She is survived by a daughter, Alta Carolyn Davis Wood (Paul Stephen) of Pascagoula; a son, J. Treadwell Davis, Jr. (Lori) of Mobile, Alabama; 4 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
The Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at St. Pierre's Episcopal Church in Gautier, Mississippi, followed by private interment at Southern Memorial Garden in Biloxi, Mississippi.
