Marjorie Knott Craft of Biloxi died on August 22, 2013. She was born on December 27, 1924 in Warrington, England. She cherished her life with a loving father, mother, brother, and three sisters. These were difficult times in England following WWI and the years leading up to WWII. She shared many stories about growing in in Warrington.
In 1942, Marjorie enlisted in the British Women's Auxiliary Air Force. In 1944, she met and married Troy Craft, Sr., a handsome American GI that was serving in the Army Air Corp in England. In 1945, their first son, Troy, Jr., was born. The following year Marjorie and Troy, Jr. traveled on one of the many war-bride ships from England over to Ellis Island New York. They boarded a train from there to Hattiesburg, MS, and then traveled by car to the Craft family farm near Hot Coffee, MS. She loved telling stories of her first impressions of the farm and of America. Troy tried farming but decided to go back into the Air Force. Their second son, Michael, was born in Biloxi in 1949 while they were stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. Many moves followed that included El Paso, TX, Germany, 'the Farm"", and Myrtle Beach, SC where their third son, Russell was born in 1960. In that same year Troy retired and they moved back to Biloxi where Troy entered his second career at the Biloxi VA.
Marjorie will always be remembered as a very loving and caring mother and wife. She enjoyed shopping for bargains, cooking, sharing stories and watching old movies. She truly loved her family. Her three sons were her treasures. Troy and Marjorie were married 64 years before Troy died in 2009. They gave their sons love and memories for a lifetime. Rest in peace, Mom.
