Marilyn Williams Nations, age 74, of Long Beach, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
Mrs. Nations was born on August 6, 1943, in Monticello, MS to James K. and Sarah Walls Williams. She married Booth R. Nations in 1962. She worked at JCPenny's for several years and eventually retired from Edrington Optical after 40 years of service, mostly as office manager. Marilyn volunteered weekly at Memorial Hospital delivering flowers. She also spent many hours volunteering in the Long Beach School system assisting in her daughter's elementary classroom. She was an active member of the local Homemaker's Club, a member of the 55 Plus Club, and the "Lunch Bunch" ladies club.
Marilyn was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling on bus tours, cruises and overseas. She was an active member of The First Baptist Church of Long Beach where she taught Sunday School for many years. If you knew Marilyn, you loved, admired, respected, and adored her. Marilyn was well known for her caring and nurturing ways for not only her family, but countless others. Her greatest love was for her husband, Booth, of 55 years, her three children, seven grandchildren, and her great grandchild that she kept weekly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James K. Williams, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Booth R. Nations of Long Beach; her children, Gregory Wade Nations of Long Beach, Timothy Todd Nations (Cindy) of Wiggins, Robbin Michelle Vonder Bruegge of Long Beach; siblings, Jo Ann Myrick, Jackie C. Williams, and Wanda R. Crane; grandchildren, Chip Vonder Bruegge (Rani), Tristan Nations, Blake Nations, Morgan Vonder Bruegge, Tanner Nations, Sarah Nations, and Brock Vonder Bruegge; and great grandson, Rhett Vonder Bruegge.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Long Beach, from 11:30-1:30 pm. Funeral services will follow in the sanctuary at 1:30 pm.
Burial will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach. The family prefers donations to The First Baptist Church Building Fund.
