Marie Parker Tisdale, age 86 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Thursday, August 8, 2013, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Tisdale will be remembered for her resilience in the face of hardship, extraordinary compassion and selfless generosity (not to mention big smile, warm hugs, the most delicious gumbo, sweetest iced tea, and the best banana pudding), she will be missed-and, by those who knew her as Nana, Mammaw, Memaw, Mama T or simply Mother, never forgotten. She gave more than ever she was given, and left this world a much better place than she found it.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eley & Ellen Parker; her husband, Earl R. Tisdale; her son, Jerry D. ""Pete"" Parker; her brother, Bill Wallace, numerous other brothers and sisters and a great grandchild, Kylee McCarthy.
Mrs. Tisdale is survived by her children, Linda (Fred) Free of Madison, Mary Ann (Jim) Creal of New Philadelphia, OH, Russell ""Rusty"" (Donna) Tisdale of Saucier, John (Trish) Tisdale of Saucier, Rosemarie (Don) Clark of Gulfport, and Robert S. (Karen) Allen of Hattiesburg; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, from 3:00pm until 4:00pm.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013, at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Gulfport.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
