Marie Cagle

Marie Cagle, age 86, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017. She was born July 31, 1931 to Oliphant L. Shaw and Christie Belle Malcom Shaw at the King's Daughters Hospital in Gulfport, MS.
She was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Bay St. Louis, attending four years as a boarding student. She and her husband traveled extensively as his employment took them to many places, among them, a year in Ottawa, Canada and a year in the Bahamas. They settled in Pass Christian until Hurricane Camille moved them to Pascagoula where her husband was employed by the National Marine Fisheries. They moved from there to Gautier until his position moved him to NASA and they bought a home in Long Beach.
Marie was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star for many years, until her health prevented her from being active. She served in many appointed positions which included Grand Chaplain as well as other elected officer positions. She was appointed as a Grand Representative to New Jersey, California and Tennessee. She was a member of Fellowship Eastern Star Chapter in Biloxi. She was a past queen on Japhia Temple Daughters of the Nile.
During her last years, she researched her family history and collected many facts which she carefully made records of and placed many of her memories as times passed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of more than fifty years, Jimmy Barto Cagle.  She is survived by her son, Joe Michael Shaw, Sr.; two grandsons, Joe Michael Shaw, Jr. and William Christopher Shaw & his wife, Caroline; and four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Shaw, Mailey Shaw, Tuff Shaw and Garrett Shaw.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 14th at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport, where she will be laid to rest at her beloved father's feet.
