Marian Priscilla Eisensmith, aged 95, died August 1, 2016.
A native of Seattle, Washington, Marian Eisensmith lived most of her life in New York City, relocating to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2004.
She studied at The Art Students League then The New School for Social Research and Queens College, majoring in Anthropology and English Literature. Intellectually competitive, she convinced her husband to use his WW II commando skills to help her break into a cemetery so she could track down information for a term paper. During her college years, she was a proud member of several national and university honor societies.
During her career, she served as an executive secretary in the New York corporate world and held both insurance broker and real estate licenses.
Mrs. Eisensmith was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Rhea Schneider, her beloved husband Nathan Eisensmith, son-in-law Glenn Adams whom she adored, her sister Eleanor Nelson and brother-in-laws William Nelson and Murray Eisensmith.
She is survived by her cherished daughter, Lenore Eisensmith-Adams of whom she was so proud, nephews Robert Sage Nelson and James West Nelson, niece Dawn Eisensmith, and grand-doggie Bubbles Eisensmith-Adams. She is also survived by her dearest friend of over 65 years, Ruth Medvejar and Ruth and Jack Medvejar's wonderful daughter, Patty Medvejar-Hall.
Her daughter wishes to thank the staff of Canon Hospice for their compassionate care and wise counsel; Dr. Eugene McNally & his staff; case managers Echo, Olivia and Sachie of Merrit Hospital; and Bonnie, Cheryl and Angel of Loyalton Assisted Living where she lived for several years. She was always grateful to Bruce Watts for his cheerful assistance during those dark days after Katrina. A special thank you to Mississippi Library Commission's Talking Books Service which afforded her thousands of hours of enjoyment and allowed her to keep learning until the end.
