Marguerite Bridget Holder was gently released into God's loving arms on Friday, October 2, 2015.
Marguerite married, Herbert W. Holder, the love of her life, on September 21, 1948 in Hattiesburg, MS. Together, they spent their sixty-seven years of marriage raising seven children at their home in Gulfport, MS.
Marguerite had a love for her Catholic faith and her family. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Hattiesburg, MS. She was an active member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and St. James Catholic Church, where she served on the Legion of Mary, the Altar Society, and was a Eucharistic minister. Marguerite spent many years giving of herself by tirelessly serving the poor through her involvement with Operation Manna at St. Ann's.
Her unconditional love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was her passion in life. She held each of them close to her heart. They were her ""sunshine."" She loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a beautiful person inside and out.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Ira French; her mother, Josephine Brogan French; her brothers, John Ira French, Jr., Lummy French, and Pete French and her sister, Mary Jo French.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Holder; her brother, Leo (Grace) French; her sisters, Nellie Steelman and Patricia (Raymond) Brewer; her sister-in-law, Mariam French; her children, Shirlene (Jim) Ussery, Diane (Mike) Mays, Carolyn (Bob) Jones, Marcia (Frank) Marengo, Herbert (Sindy) Holder, Stephen (Diana) Holder, and Jennifer (Steve) Broadus; her grandchildren, Rob (Tyler) Weir,Molly Weir, Kim (Andy) Hurt; Jay (Stacie) Ussery, Paul (Maribeth) Snow, Michelle (Greg) Ortego, Shelley Brewer, Patrick (Nancy) Sutherlin, Frank (Jessica) Marengo, Michael (Katherine) Marengo, Christopher (Cherie) Marengo, Jordan (Bo) Bell, Jonathan Holder, Justin Holder, Joey (Fernanda) Holder, Auburn (Patrick) Guild, Stephen Broadus, Hope Broadus, Aaron Broadus, and Anna Broadus and 25 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at 11:30am at St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
