Margie E. Stonecipher, 89, of Diamondhead, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016, surrounded by family at home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse W. Stonecipher.
Margie is survived by son James K. Rusk (Marla) of Mahomet, Illinois, daughter Kathy G. Robinson (Ken) of Montgomery, Texas, and daughter Gail R. Walker (Ken) of Long Beach; grandchildren, John Rusk, Brenda Rusk, Aaron Robinson, Brad Robinson, Austin Walker, and Abigail Walker; and eight great grandchildren.
Margie grew up in Texas, but spent most of her life in Illinois and Mississippi. She was employed at the University of Illinois Williard Airport.
Margie was a gifted seamstress who taught herself to sew. She was skilled at crewel embroidery and made hundreds of pictures for friends and family.
She loved dogs, especially poodles, and had a curio turtle collection that friends and family contributed to over the years.
Margie was a world traveler. She jouneyed to Russia, China, and all over Europe with her husband Jess. Even in her later years, she took cruises to Alaska and Central America.
Margie had a generous heart. She gave to those in need and opened her home to friends during Hurricane Katrina.
She enjoyed staying up to date on current affairs and checking her stocks. One of her favorite hobbies was going to the casino.
A memorial service is planned for the near future. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Assocation at www.alz.org in memory of her husband, Jesse W. Stonecipher.
