Obituary

Margaret Diehl, 81, formerly of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her on March 1, 2026, while living with her daughter and son in law in Kokomo, Indiana.

Born in Auburn, New York, Margaret lived a life defined by compassion, dedication, and deep love for her family. She devoted her career to nursing and served as a hospice director with Sadds Home Health until her retirement, providing comfort and care to countless families during their most difficult times. Margaret cherished her retirement years alongside her beloved husband of over 50 years, Richard, creating a lifetime of memories together. Her greatest joy, however, was her family, whom she considered her greatest blessing.

She is survived by her loving children, Melissa (Darrin) Fearnow and Margaret Ann (Tim) Spiriti; her cherished granddaughters, Hillary Barq, Lauren Fearnow, Morgan Fearnow, and Katie Barq; and her treasured great-granddaughter, Leighton Marchioni. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents, Margaret and Joseph Gargan; her brothers, Jack, Peter, and Tom; and many other loved ones.

Known for her kindness, Margaret’s contagious smile and laughter could brighten any room. She loved reading, spending time in the pool, and attending church at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She never missed an opportunity to call and sing “Happy Birthday” to her family, a tradition that will be fondly remembered. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and a true hero to her family, always offering unwavering support and pride.

Visitation will be held on April 8,2026 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gulfport, followed by a Catholic Mass at 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Biloxi National Cemetery. Margaret will be forever missed and loved beyond measure. Her legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on in all who knew her.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Saad Hospice, 10598 D'Iberville Blvd, D'Iberville, MS 39340, an organization that was close to Margaret’s heart.
