Margaret Raye Davis

A Celebration of Life Service for Margaret Raye Davis, 79, will take place at First Baptist Church of Vancleave, MS on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 10:00 am with a graveside service at Vancleave Cemetery #2 following. Visitation will be at FBC Vancleave on Monday, August 31, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Born in Biloxi, MS on February 21, 1947, to the late Ray Chastant and Margaret Hall Chastant (Dove), she passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws Thomas and Lois Leland, brother in-law Steve Wetzel, and sister-in-law Lynn Davis.

Margaret Raye married her lifelong sweetheart, Clinton Andre Davis, on February 24, 1968. One of the greatest blessings of her life was the 58 years she shared in marriage with her beloved husband. Their life together was built on love, faith, and commitment, with countless memories made side by side. Through all of life's joys and challenges, they remained devoted to one Another, always there to support, encourage, and care for each other.

One of the most meaningful chapters of her life was raising her two sons, Clint and Brian, in Vancleave, Mississippi. She poured her heart into being a mother, creating a loving home and giving her boys the guidance, support, and unconditional love they needed as they grew. The years they spent together in Vancleave were filled with family, hard work, laughter, and memories that would remain precious to them throughout their lives. She was a devoted mother who took great pride in the men that she raised.

To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was so much more than a grandmother; Margaret Raye was Granna. She was their source of love, comfort, laughter, encouragement, and support. The memories they made with her, from family gatherings and home-cooked meals at their home in Lake-O-Pines to the simple everyday moments, will remain treasured for the rest of their lives. Her love for them was a gift that will continue to live on in each of them, and they will forever carry a piece of her heart with them.

Margaret Raye was truly one of the sweetest and most loving woman anyone could ever know. Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering faith touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a gifted hairdresser that spent years cutting hair and loving on her clients. She also had a special way of showing her love through the simple acts that make family life so meaningful. Her home cooking brought everyone together around the table, with meals prepared with love and care that her family will always remember. She found joy in taking care of the people she loved, and she especially loved cutting her families’ hair.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the friends and family who have offered their love, prayers, kindness, and support during this difficult time. Every phone call, visit, message, prayer, and thoughtful gesture has brought comfort and strength to the family. Your presence and support are deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten. The love surrounding the family during this time is a beautiful reminder of the many lives she touched and the lasting love she leaves behind.

Family survivors include her husband: Clinton Andre Davis II of Vancleave, MS; her sister Brenda Wetzel (Steve) of Ocean Springs; her two children: Clinton Andre Davis III (Susanna) and Brian Davis (Leigh) of Vancleave; her six grandchildren: Dre Davis (Kera) of Vancleave, Brian Davis II (Alexis) of Vicksburg, Bitty Davis (Sarah) of Vancleave, Annaleigha Duke (Michael) of Vancleave, Trevor Davis (Josie) of Vicksburg, Lauren Davis of Vancleave; five great grandchildren: Hazel Davis, Tripp Davis, Helen Davis, Lottie Davis, Sabra Duke; one brother-in-law: Jimmy Davis.Pallbearers will be her 4 grandsons, nephew Chris Wetzel, and Andrew Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be her brother-in-law Jimmy Davis and her nephew Ken Wetzel.
