Marcia DeMarcay Artigues, age 80, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025.
Born in New Orleans and a lifelong resident of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, Marcia lived a life defined by grace, creativity, and generosity. Earlier in her career, Marcia was a devoted teacher, inspiring young minds with her patience, encouragement, and kindness. Her love of education and design reflected her lifelong dedication to nurturing both people and places. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from the University of Southern Mississippi and was a distinguished American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) member. As the creator and founder of Marcia Artigues Interiors, she spent her career bringing beauty, comfort, and elegance into countless homes and spaces. Marcia believed that a thoughtfully designed home could nurture the soul, and she approached every project with the heart of an artist and the care of a dear friend.
Marcia was an active member of the Bay-Waveland Junior Auxiliary and an early member of the Krewe of Nereids, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and gave generously of her time and talents to the community she loved. Beyond her professional achievements, Marcia found joy in painting, where her creativity flourished on canvas just as it did in the spaces she designed. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, moments filled with laughter, love, and lasting memories. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her creative brilliance, her unwavering kindness, and her unique ability to make the world a more beautiful place — not only through work in our homes, but in our hearts and daily lives.
Marcia is survived by her husband of sixty years, Ronnie Artigues, Sr.; children, son Ronnie Artigues, Jr., (wife Nancy Gex), son Jay Artigues (wife Rachel Fillingame), and daughter Ashley Artigues Barrios (husband Byron Barrios); grandchildren Margaret Artigues Quinn, Jonathon Gex Artigues, Christopher “Champ” Artigues, Casey Joseph Artigues, Isla Josephine Barrios, and Annie James Barrios; great grandchildren Owen Gilliland Quinn and James Michael Quinn; along with countless dear friends, colleagues, and members of the organizations she so dearly loved.
