Mrs. Mae Helen Jordan Terry Alexander Bray of Gulfport, MS, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in Gulfport. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cora Batson Jordan and Thaddeus Warsaw Jordan; her husbands, William R. Terry, George Alexander, and Jim Bray; one son, William R. Terry, Jr.; three sisters, Maurine Jordan, Genevieve Behnke, and Frances Favre Larkin; and two brothers, Denton ""Deno"" Jordan, and T. W. Jordan.
She is survived by her son, Michael D. Terry (Lynn) of Houston, TX and her daughter, Julie Anne Campbell of Islamorada, FL.; five grandchildren, Mike Terry, Jr., Jeffrey Terry (Renee), William Surowiecki, James Matthew Surowiecki (Eunice) and Kelley Campbell; five great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the family of her late husband George Alexander and his sons, David Alexander (Sheila) and Daniel Alexander.
Mae Helen was a graduate of Gulfport High School where she was a member of the Cotillion Social Club and attended Mississippi state College for Women. She worked as a secretary for her husband, Bill Terry, the Gulfport V.A. Hospital, and as legal secretary to David Cottrell of Eaton, Cottrell, Galloway and Lang. She was active in the Harrison-Hancock Chapter of the Legal Secretaries Association. She was a talented artist working in pastels and oils and a member of the Gulf Coast Art Association. A talented pianist, Mae Helen played with jazz musicians and was the first pianist for The Nourishing Place.
She was a longtime member of Bayou View Baptist Church and served as church secretary.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of One Magnolia Place and Lakeview Nursing Care in Gulfport, MS, and the staff of Emeritus Assisted Living in Tampa, FL.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Graveside for family will be held at Evergreen Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Nourishing Place in Gulfport, MS, or the Humane Society of South Mississippi.
