Madalyn Parker Durham, age 91, passed away at 7:04 a.m. Monday morning, August 3, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Durham; her parents, James and Jude Parker; and her brother, James Parker, Jr.
Mrs. Durham is survived by her brother, Cloyse Parker of Lone Oak, KY; her sons, Dennis Durham of Trumann, AR, and Ronald Durham of Long Beach, MS; her eight grandchildren; her 17 great-grandchildren; and her one great-great grandchild.
She was a great mom, grandma and great-grandma to our family. Mom and dad were a loving couple that reached out to everyone and everything. They were Sunday school teachers in the morning and youth counselors at night at Huntington Avenue United Methodist Church. It has been said that they even taught a young boy to become a young director at the church. The boy eventually became a superb pastor in the United Methodist Church. Mom sang in the choir and was active in United Methodist Women, serving as President 2 or 3 times.
She led a great life for 91 years. Everybody that knew mom & dad loved them. She served as a secretary at South Elementary School and for dad's real estate & insurance company and then for Hytrol Conveyer Corp. Dad died in 1996 and then Grandma (Parker) in 1998. At that time Mom moved in with Connie and Ronald as he served as a pastor in Ft. Smith, Rogers, Cherokee Village, and Batesville, AR.
She blended into the family, full of joy for her and them. About 6 years ago mom moved into a nursing home due to dementia but had a ball there. This year she began losing her life until her time finally came to and end. We all miss you so very much Mom.
