Mack Leggett

Mack Leggett, Jr., resident of Long Beach, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in Gulfport at the age of 81.
Mack was born in Long Beach on September 15, 1931 to the late Soloman Mack Leggett and Norine Pierson Leggett. He served in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean War. After his military career, Mack worked for the VA in Gulfport as a Nursing Assistant. He was a deacon in the Baptist Church and a Song Leader at Riverside Baptist Church in Long Beach. He was a member of the Southern Star Lodge #500-Masonic Lodge in Long Beach, MS.
Mack was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Juanita Jarrell Leggett; his sisters, Mamie Holland and Ella Davis Hansen; his brothers, Lee Davis, Ellis Davis, and Ed Davis; his grandson, Joseph Ford; and his step son, Steven Chitwood.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Chitwood Leggett; his children, Peggy Damiens of Bay St. Louis; Dodie Ford of Houston, TX; Paulette Ford Sanders of Gulfport, and Robert E. Ford of Gulfport; his sister, Eleanor Shiyou Ladner; his brothers, Bill Davis and CB Davis; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS. The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm on February 4, 2013. Entombment will follow services at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens in Long Beach.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
