Lucy Lee Prine Bickham was born on December 23, 1925 in Hub, Marion County, MS and passed away on November 24, 2017 in Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Prine and Elizabeth Tyner Prine.
She is survived by her son Tommy Wayne Bickham of Mobile, AL; her granddaughter Kimberly Bickham Baggett (John, deceased) of Mobile, AL, her grandson Derek Bickham(Ashley) of Slidell, LA, and her great-granddaughter Jordyn Scaturro of Mobile, AL.
She was a lifelong Methodist. She was a member of Mississippi City United Methodist Church for over 40 years. She served on the church rebuilding committee after Katrina, served on the Worship Alter Committee, and organized the Always Striving To Reach Other Seniors (ASTROS). She was a Sunday School teacher and MYF Leader at Legette Memorial United Methodist Church. She helped organize Cub Scout Pack 222 and was a den mother at Beauvoir United Methodist Church..
She was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and Draughons Business College. She retired after 30 years Civil Service at Keesler AFB, MS. She served as Southeast Region Representative for the National Federal Employed Women's organization and helped organize the local Federal Employed Women Chapter (FEW).
She was a member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lifelong Learning Institute and the University of Southern Mississippi Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
She served as Chairman of Retiree Partnership and Retired Senior Volunteer Program(RSVP). She was a RSVP volunteer for over 25 years. Some of the many volunteer opportunities were registering Nike Golf Players and Pro-Am Golf players for the Gulf Coast Golf Classic, State Coordinator for the National Senior MS America Pageant, organized Mississippi Senior MS America pageant, volunteered with the Retirement Partnership Program, escorted bus tours for Travel Service International, organized bus trips for different groups, served on committees for the MS Gulf Coast Senior Prom and MS Gulf Senior Games, now the Mississippi Senior Olympics. She coordinated senior game events, participated in local, state and national senior games/Olympics programs. She received Bronze medals in shuffleboard at the National Senior Olympics in Baton Rouge, LA and Louisville, KY. She also participated in other National games in Syracuse, NY and San Antonio, TX. She was voted into the Mississippi Senior Olympics Hall of Fame.
She received the Governor's Initiative for Volunteer Excellence in 1994 and 2015 and the Mississippi Blue Cross Blue Shield Southern Region Ageless Heroes Vitality Award.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Noon at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport with a visitation for family and friends from 10:00 AM until Noon. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
