Loyd Earl Klein

January 17, 1917 — August 13, 2015

Loyd Earl (Mickey) Klein began his life's journey Wednesday, January 17th, 1917. The early days of his life found him working at the family owned ""Klein's Service Station"" which during the 1920's and 30's occupied the intersection of Highway 49 and 28th St. in downtown Gulfport.
December 16,1938 Mickey married the love of his life, Adelle Graham. Being a jack of all trades, he held many different jobs doing whatever was needed to provide for his family. Mickey and Adelle resided together on 25th Ave until 1946. At that time they purchased a house and 20 acres of land on a secluded dirt road in rural Harrison County in a neighborhood that only included seven other homes. That quiet neighborhood is now the busy intersection of Dedeaux and Klein Rd. They lived at that location for the remaining 65 of their 72 year marriage until Adelle's passing in 2011.
After moving to Dedeaux Rd. Mickey and Adelle operated a Mom and Pop dairy operation with their herd of dairy cows free range grazing in a wooded area which is now the Bel-Aire subdivision. Along with the many other jobs that Mickey held he was also one of the founding members of the Orange Grove Volunteer Fire Department serving in many positions within the Department including Fire Chief for a period of time. He and Adelle also enjoyed working together at their voting precinct as poll workers.
During the retirement years of his journey he and Adelle traveled together in their motorhome and visited 49 of the 50 states. He also enjoyed watching his Grandchildren participate in sporting events especially Church League softball games. At 9:30 Thursday night, August 13, 2015 his 98 year journey ended at home quietly and very peacefully as it reached it's final destination at Heaven's gate where he was met by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mickey leaves behind 3 children, Walter Clarence Stephenson, Betty Jo (Klein) Johnson and husband Jimmy, Eddie Klein and wife Nora, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, 10 nieces and 10 nephews.
