Louis J. Breaux, III, age 90, of the Kiln, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 1, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis J. Breaux, Jr. and Emily Martin Breaux; a son, Patrick Breaux; a sister, Theckla Trahan; son-in-law, Bubby Hoda; and a grandson, Brian Hoda.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Jeanette T. Breaux; his children, Louis (Veronica) Breaux, IV, Christine (Bert) Courrege, Charlene Breaux, Norman Breaux, Jack (Tiffany) Breaux, Marlene Hoda, and Bryan (Regina) Breaux; his sister, Dorothy Davis; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in White Cypress, past president of Hancock County Farm Bureau, past president of the Hancock Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Cattleman's Association, honorary vice president for life of MS Farm Bureau, member of the American Gelbvieh Association, president of Southern Livestock Producers, Board Member of Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, served on Pearl River Basin Development District for Hancock County, served on Port and Harbor Commission for 4 years, managed Gulf Coast Dairyman's Association, appointed by Gov. Kirk Fordice to the Water Resource Commission Advisory Board, executive committee of the Hancock County Republican Party, served on the parish council of Annunciation Catholic Church and later St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, chairman of the advisory committee of the Kiln Library , 2002 Commercial Cattleman of the Year, 2007 MS Farm Bureau Excellence in Leadership Award, and 2011 Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Breaux retired in 2012 after 53 years of service to MS Farm Bureau Federation. Mr. Breaux served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 3, 2017, from 6 - 10 pm at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 27074 St. Matthew Road, White Cypress. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 9 pm. Visitation will also be on Saturday, November 4, 2017, from 10 - 11 am in the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday in the church. Entombment will be in St. Matthew Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Matthew Church.
