Louis Edgar Bourgeois, age 82 of Waveland passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benedict and Vernell Bourgeois; his son, Jason Duffy and his brothers, Lonell Bourgeois and Charles Bourgeois.

Louis is survived by his children, Barbara (Stephen) Drury, Eddie (Kitty) Bourgeois, Kevin (April) Bourgeois and Courtney (Kenny) Carr; his grandchildren, Caleb Bourgeois, Makayla Bourgeois, Aiden Bourgeois, Dylan Bourgeois, Peyton Bourgeois, Landon Bourgeois, Bryson Bourgeois, Logan Bourgeois, Paisley Bourgeois, Jared Favre, Jade Derouen, Cody Bourgeois, Corey Stone, Christopher Stone, Kacey Whitney and Ashley Feasel; eighteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; his sister, Dianne Perkins and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Hancock County and raised in Waveland, Louis was a hardworking man with a heart of gold. During the 1960s and 1970s, he worked as a carpenter, building houses in New Orleans. After spending so much time on the road, he decided it was time for a change and became a commercial fisherman.

Louis loved being on the water. He was a man who worked hard, never complained, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He helped fellow fishermen whenever they were in need and was known for his generosity. If he had fish, he shared them with everyone and would never let someone go hungry. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice.

His strong work ethic and generous spirit were a gift he passed down to his children. He taught them, not only by his words but by the way he lived, the value of hard work, helping others, and always doing what was right.

Louis was deeply loved and respected by his family, friends, and fellow fishermen. His kindness, generosity, and love for the water left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Prayer service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 141 Hwy 90, Waveland, with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Graveside service will follow at Waveland Cemetery.
