Lou Lowery Green, age 87 of Gulfport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 14, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard S. Lowery and Mattie Lowery Cooley; brothers, William F. Lowery and James E. Lowery; and son-in-law, James L. Lee.
Lou is survived by her husband of 68 years, Marvin R. Green Jr.; her children, Alice (John) O'Neal of Wiggins, Marsha (Jim) King of Hattiesburg, and Mark Green of Gulfport; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Ratcliffe, Alison (Rod) McMinn, John Russell (Courtney) O'Neal, Tyler Lee, Elizabeth Lee, and Zachary Green; and great-grandchildren, Andrew Ratcliffe, Anna Kate Ratcliffe, Abigail Ratcliffe, and John Preston O'Neal.
Lou is a native of Hattiesburg, and a resident of Gulfport, MS.; she graduated from Petal High School and Harmon Business College in Hattiesburg. She worked as a Registrar at Theodore High School in Mobile, Alabama; she was also devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
Lou was an active member for 53 years of First Baptist Church of Lyman. She served as WMU President, GA Director, Missions Outreach Leader, and Bible Drill Instructor.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks and appreciation for the care given by St. Joseph Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Lyman; Backpack Ministries.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Lyman, 14321 Old Highway 49, Gulfport. The Funeral service will follow immediately at 11:00 A.M. with the Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Petal, MS at 3:00 P.M.
